CHOOSE HOW AND WHERE YOU WANT TO HANG YOUR CUSTOM WINDOW
THERE ARE DIFFERENT WAYS TO HANG A WINDOW

#1 The simplest way to hang a stained glass panel is to attach some hooks to the existing framework of the window and hang the stained glass with wire or chain. This is a good way for people who plan to move and want to take their window with them. The stained glass can be much smaller than the existing window frame.

#2 The next easy way to hang a stained glass panel is to measure the size of your existing window and subtract 1/2" from the height and width of the opening. The panel can then be fit into the opening and held in place with caulking or glass clips from the hardware store.

#3 The next more complex way to hang a stained glass panel is to fit it in a frame which fits into the place you want it to remain permanently. If this is the method you prefer, have your carpenter furnish the size that the window opening will be. We build in tolerances of plus or minus 1/8".

#4 There is also the option of having a window built which is sandwiched in between tempered glass. This is common in entryways. We build the art glass 1/2" smaller all the way around the tempered glass so that rubber can be injected into the extra space, which insulates the unit. The tempered glass is built 1/8" smaller than the opening similar to example #3.

Cabinet door inserts can be built to fit any shape opening and design possibilities are endless. It is easy to build a panel to fit an existing frame, because we take a measurement or pattern of the opening we need to fill and then build the desired design to that size.

When choosing the best place to hang a stained glass panel, it is good to consider if it will be in an area where everyone entering the home will see it and will it get direct sunlight. The more prominent the placement of the window, the more it will add value to your home. The more the window will catch the sunlight, the more enjoyment you will get as the colors of the window change throughout the day. Stained glass looks stunning in full direct sunlight, but on an overcast day, it will amaze you at how vivid the colors of your panel will be.

Stained Glass is beautiful. We call it a "living art" because it changes throughout the day as the light quality changes.
